About the Skincare with Friends Podcast

Skincare with Friends started in 2018, when two pals from Wales decided to bring their skincare chats to the airwaves. Nia is an aesthetician (complete with PG Dip in Cosmetic Medicine), skincare blogger, chatroom mod and general skincare internet person. And Natalie is a knowledgeable and hilarious layperson. We are obsessed with the eighties, we talk like normal humans and we love good skincare.

The podcast is informal and fun and we absolutely love making it. We sometimes have guest interviews, but mainly it’s the two of us having a biweekly dive into whatever skincare subject we feel like talking about. Here you’ll find the podcast episodes, information to go with them, leave comments and suggestions, we love hearing from you. You might even feature in our next episode. Email us at hello@skincarewithfriends.com.

Skincare with Friends- Our Skin

The reason I (Nia) started all this blogging/podcasting shenanigans is because naturally I have terrible skin. I’ve had acne since I was a child, which wasn’t improved by Roaccutane treatment. I suffer with all the sorts of acne you can think of- blackheads, bumps, painful under the skin cysts that pop up on a monthly basis, whiteheads… It’s largely under control after finding out what works for my skin (more on that in the podcast). I have oily skin naturally but because I use topical acne treatments I have to make sure I focus on hydration. I also suffer with melasma after having 3 kids, I have a sort of lacy full face pattern to my melasma (unlike Natalie’s localised patches).

Natalie has a normal skin type (tough as old boots, so she says). Her main complaint is melasma which is concentrated in areas under her eyes. Her skincare focus is also calming the irritation caused by Melasma treatments like hydroquinone and tretinoin.
